Fjord Line cancels scheduled round-trip for MS Bergensfjord (05.09.2010)

Fjord Line regrets having to cancel today’s scheduled sailing from Hirtshals to Stavanger and Bergen in order to carry out necessary technical maintenance. Passengers are offered to cross with the Fjord Line Express between Kristiansand and Hirtshals as an alternative route.

Fjord Line and Smyril Line to cooperate in Hirtshals (01.09.10)

Fjord Line and Smyril Line have reached an agreement on sharing of port facilities in Hirtshals. The agreement is a result of a decision by Smyril Line to replace Esbjerg and Hanstholm with Hirtshals as their port of call in Denmark, for their ship The “MF Norrøna”, with effect from 2nd October.

New investors for Fjord Line (05.07.10)

The Norwegian ferry operator Fjord Line will be increasing the company’s share capital by NOK 300 million (approx. €37 million) as part of the funding package for two new cruise ferries. The new shares will be acquired by the current majority shareholders, Frode and Ole Kjetil Teigen, and 11 new investors.

“The positive reaction to our offer of participating in Fjord Line’s capital increase shows that many investors share our faith in the future of the ferry operator Fjord Line on the cruise ferry market between Norway and the European Union,” said the company’s chairman, Peter Frølich.

Smooth sailing for Fjord Line (25.06.10)

For the second year running Fjord Line sees a profit from the service between West Norway and Denmark, operated with The “MS Bergensfjord”. However, the unlawful exclusion of Fjord Line from the port of Kristiansand last year resulted in an overall loss of NOK 14.5 mill in consolidated income for the year 2009 for the whole Fjord Line group. – We have succeeded in generating profits where we are sailing. We are now looking forward to 2012 when we will be able to offer our costumers two new and modern cruise ferries with daily sailings on both our services, says CEO of Fjord Line, Ingvald Fardal.

Construction to begin on two new cruise ferries for Fjord Line (2nd June 2010)

The construction of Fjord Line’s two new cruise ferries will begin shortly at the Bergen Group Fosen yard. Both the necessary lines of credit for the construction period, and the long term financing has now been secured, and the parties have met all agreed preconditions related to the deal.

Fjord Line has secured financing of two new cruise ferries (12th May 2010)

Fjord Line has secured the long term financing of two new cruise ferries. The vessels will offer daily sailings on the service between Bergen, Stavanger and Hirtshals, and on the service between Kristiansand and Hirtshals. Fjord Line is scheduled to take ownership of the new vessels in the spring and autumn of 2012 respectively.

Fjord Line Express was opened with great celebrations in both Kristiansand and Hirtshals on Friday, 30th April. Fjord Line to start daily sailings to and from Kristiansand from May 2012 ( 09.04.10 )

Opening in May 2012 Fjord Line will offer daily sailings between Kristiansand and Hirtshals all year round. – In 2012 the delivery of two new cruise ferries will make it possible to offer daily services both between Bergen, Stavanger and Hirtshals, and between Kristiansand and Hirtshals. This will enhance the ferry service between Kristiansand and the EU, contributing to increased traffic in both tourism and cargo, says CEO Ingvald Fardal.

Fjord Line to build two new cruise ferries at Bergen Group Fosen ( 17.03.10 )

Fjord Line has signed a contract with Bergen Group Fosen to build two new cruise ferries. The ships will be delivered in May and November 2012 respectively. Fjord Line will thus be able to offer daily departures on the service between Bergen, Stavanger and Hirtshals.

Kristiansand Port Authority ordered to pay compensation to Fjord Line (08.03.10)

The District Court of Kristiansand has today ordered Kristiansand Port Authority to compensate Fjord Line for losses incurred following the ban on the company from operating a service with the high-speed vessel HSC Fjord Cat during 2009 and the losses incurred as a result of non-profitable winter sailings during 2008. The exact amount of compensation is to be decided in a separate court ruling. The Port Authority of Kristiansand is also ordered to compensate Fjord Line for legal costs, in the amount of NOK 2 mill.

Fjord Line sees growth in contracting market (14.12.09)

During the first ten months of this year Fjord Line has seen a growth in passenger numbers of eight percent as compared to last year, on its service between the west coast of Norway and Denmark. The total market for ferry services between Norwegian and international destinations, has in the same period seen a reduction in overall passenger numbers of six percent.

Fjord Line is backed by ESA (06.11.09)

The “EFTA” Surveillance Authority (ESA) – the authority responsible for overseeing the enforcement of the EEA-agreement in the “EFTA”-countries – gives Fjord Line full support in the shipping company’s legal battle against the exclusion of Fjord Line from The Port of Kristiansand. ESA is content that national authorities have given Fjord Line its due rights of access to the port’s facilities, and has closed the case regarding breach of competition legislation against Kristiansand Port Authority.

Fjord Line to sail express from Kristiansand (14.09.09)

Starting in spring 2010, Fjord Line will reinstate routes between Kristiansand and Denmark with the passenger ship Fjord Cat.  Crossing from Kristiansand to Hirtshals on the Fjord Cat will take two hours and fifteen minutes, an hour faster than Color Line’s SuperSpeed, which covers the same route.  Ticket sales are set to open today at 17:00 p.m., September 14, 2009.

The Norwegian Coastal Administration (NCA) finds in favour of Fjord Line against The Kristiansand Port Authority. (11.05.09)

The Norwegian Coastal Administration (NCA) has ruled in favour of Fjord Line when considering their appeal against the decision made by The Kristiansand Port Authority after the authority last year denied Fjord Line’s application to continue their service between Kristiansand and Denmark during the summer months. The NCA has ruled the decision invalid and ordered The Kristiansand Port Authority to review the application. – The ruling by The NCA is both delightful and positive in our efforts to retain the right to continue our service with HSC Fjord Cat between Kristiansand and Denmark, says CEO Ingvald Fardal.
