Mobile phone on board

Onboard our two ships, MV Bergensfjord & Fjord Line Express, mobile phone coverage is provided by Maritime Communications Partner (MCP), an international GSM network operator.
The MCP network serves you by relaying your phone connection via the ship’s satellite connection. Your call is actually being transmitted via a satellite 35,800 kilometers above the Earth!

The network is available when the ship is at sea. You will notice that your phone will show either “MCP” or “901 12” on the display. If the ship is sailing close to shore, you may be connected to a land based operator. In order to make a call, remember to dial the international access code (‘+’ or ‘00’) and the country code, before the phone number you are calling (e.g. ‘+ 44 12345678’ for a call to England).

The service is charged via your home operator at a rate similar to international rates. For exact pricing, please check with your home operator.
