The two cruise ships have been docked for a longer period due to the replacement of engines but will soon be put back into traffic on the popular route between Bergen, Stavanger, Hirtshals and Kristiansand. MS Stavangerfjord sails as early as May 26, and MS Bergensfjord will be back in operation from June 16.

“We are very much looking forward to returning and welcoming the guests on board again. Especially, we are pleased that it will now be possible to travel on a cruise with us to or from Kristiansand,” says Brian Thorsted Hansen, CEO of Fjord Line.

A comfortable and green alternative
Both ships now have new dual-fuel engines, which can be powered by both liquefied natural gas (LNG) and marine gas oil (MGO). Fjord Line is a pioneer in using LNG as fuel and will continue to be a sustainable travel option.

“The new engines ensure greater flexibility in operation, which benefits our customers,” says Thorsted Hansen.

In addition to the change of engines, several other changes have been made on board that the travellers will notice. We have a brand new lounge suitable for domestic travellers between Bergen and Stavanger. Passengers will have access to comfortable seats, simple dining, Wi-Fi, and power outlets. Here you can relax or work while enjoying a fantastic sea view.

“Also, we have upgraded our outdoor lounge, which is suitable for the whole family. Thorsted Hansen says the playground for the little ones on board also offers fun novelties.

Back with an extended offer
According to Thorsted Hansen, passengers are eager to get Stavangerfjord and Bergensfjord back in service. Fjord Line is experiencing a large number of bookings for the summer, but there is still room for those who haven’t booked their holiday yet.

“We have been looking forward to this long, so we want a real celebration when the service opens again. That’s why there will be extra surprises this day, both at the terminals and on board for everyone on board,” says Thorsted Hansen.

With the upgraded ships back in traffic, travellers will again have a year-round service between Bergen, Stavanger, Hirtshals and Kristiansand. In the high season, Fjord Line will have four daily departures between Kristiansand and Hirsthals.

“Fjord Line is already the fastest alternative between Norway and Denmark, with the catamaran Fjord FSTR, which only takes 2 hours and 25 minutes to cross between Kristiansand and Hirtshals. Now that FSTR is joined by our cruise ships, our travellers get more opportunities and more flexibility,” Thorsted Hansen concludes.
