Discover one of Northern Europe's most innovative art centres. Kunstsilo is not just a museum; it is an experience. The former grain silo from 1935 on Odderøya has undergone a remarkable transformation and is now an award-winning powerhouse for art and culture.
In the heart of the new cultural quarter by the sea in central Kristiansand, Kunstsilo opened its doors to the public in spring 2024. The story of Kunstsilo begins with Nicolai Tangen's generous donation of his art collection to his hometown of Kristiansand in 2015. The following year, Sørlandets Kunstmuseum received perpetual rights to the collection, thanks to the AKO Kunststiftelse. The old grain silo was seen as the perfect exhibition venue, and the project was fully funded in 2019. After several years of construction, it is now ready to share its treasures with the public.
Kunstsilo is more than just art and offers a wide range of activities and programs suitable for the whole family. Children can explore the world of art on their own, with friends, or with family. The child-friendly activities are designed to inspire creativity and curiosity.
Kunstsilo is centrally located on Odderøya in Kristiansand, easily accessible from both the city centre and the harbour. Combine your visit with one of their exciting tours and explore everything the new cultural quarter has to offer.
