Fjord Line recommends that all passengers purchase an optional cancellation protection in case of illness for NOK 150 (DKK 150 / EUR 20) per passenger. Cancellation protection must be purchased at the time of booking and cannot be added at a later stage.
The cancellation protection grants the right to cancel the reservation against a refund in the event of unexpected and serious illness, accidents, or death involving the traveller, a member of their household, or a close family member, making it impossible or inadvisable to complete the journey.
Spouses/partners, siblings, children, stepchildren, parents, grandparents, grandchildren, parents-in-law, siblings-in-law, and children-in-law all qualify as close family member. The right to cancel against a refund also applies if the hindrance affects a person in the traveller’s party without whom it would be unreasonable to expect the traveller to complete the journey.
Cancellations must be reported to Fjord Line’s customer service by phone during opening hours and prior to departure. If our customer service centre is closed, an email must be sent to info@fjordline.com before the deadline expires, otherwise the right to cancel against a refund is forfeited.
To receive a refund under the cancellation protection, the traveller must be able to document the reason for cancellation and forward a medical certificate to Fjord Line as soon as possible. The enquiry must reference the booking number. Refunds will cover the amount paid for the cancelled reservation minus the cost of the cancellation protection, which will not be refunded.
If a reservation includes shared accommodation and one or more travellers cancel; cancellation protection also covers any additional costs resulting from reduced occupancy. Fjord Line reserves the right to reassign the remaining travellers to smaller accommodation if necessary.
All travellers are also encouraged to sign valid travel insurance and carry a European Health Insurance Card.
For overnight crossings, booking a cabin (or air seat where available) is mandatory. All passengers over the age of 4 must have their own sleeping space (or air seat). Please note that air seats are not recommended for children under the age of 12.
On certain crossings, passengers may be required to vacate their cabins a few hours before arrival. If this applies, the time will be announced onboard.
For safety reasons, placing additional mattresses or beds in cabins is not permitted. A limited number of cabins are suitable for travel cots. Only in these cabins is it permitted to either bring your own travel cot or book one. Information on which cabins are suitable can be found here: MS Stavangerfjord / MS Bergensfjord. If you wish us to place a travel cot in your cabin, please let our customer service know well ahead of your journey. The service is free of charge.
PleAge restrictions apply to travellers not accompanied by a lawful custodial parent (“parent“). Minors must travel with a designated guardian holding the same reservation (i.e. sharing the same booking number). The guardian must be at least 25 years of age and assumes full responsibility for the minor during the entire journey.
Guardians are economically liable for any damages, losses, or vandalism caused by the minor(s) under their supervision. In the absence of a named guardian, the person who signed the guardian form and confirmed that their reservation complies with the required number of guardians per booking shall be held fully liable for the actions of any minor(s) travelling on the confirmed reservation.
If multiple minors travel on a cruise, at least one guardian per five minors is required. For one-way crossings, at least one guardian per ten minors is required.
