Cross-country in the highlands or through the deep Norwegian forests? In Rauland, you can experience both—and more!
If your ski holiday takes you to Rauland, you’ll have access to 150 km of well-groomed cross-country trails in varied terrain. There are trails groomed for skating and others prepared with two classic tracks—70 km of highland trails and 80 km of forest trails.
Look forward to long cross-country trips where you can enjoy the stunning views of the winter landscapes in the highlands or the peaceful, snow-covered forests.
If you want to continue skiing after dark, head to one of the area’s lit trails—in the cross-country arena, you’ll find a 6 km lit trail with artificial snow, and in the center of Rauland, there’s an 8 km lit trail.

Hardangervidda National Park route – a string of adventures
If you’re planning a holiday in one of the welcoming towns of Telemark, such as Hovden, Rauland or Gausta – a drive along the Hardangervidda National Park route – also known as the Telemark Mountain Road – is a must. The route goes from Heddal Stave Church in the east to Haukelifjell in the west and is 235 kilometres in total. The trip is dotted with attractions, viewpoints, charming villages and impressive natural surroundings, so most people enjoy the journey in shorter sections, so you have time to make stops along the way and enjoy the many sights on offer.
