Winter walk in Hovden

Hovden may be known as a paradise for skiers, but the area is just as beautiful on foot. Many people choose to experience the winter landscape without skis – and for good reason.
From the centre of Hovden, you can follow the groomed winter trail towards Hegni. Walk at your own pace through the snow-covered landscape and take in the views of the mountains surrounding the river Otra. Along the way you'll pass Støylsbrua – a small bridge set in the middle of nature – before continuing along the path to the pump house at Otrosåsen.
The trail is shared with cross-country skiers, but there's plenty of room for those who prefer walking in winter boots or snowshoes. A peaceful and easily accessible way to experience Hovden's winter – perfect for a leisurely morning stroll or a brisk walk in the afternoon sun.

Ice skating rink
Fancy a break from the slopes? Hovden's ice skating rink is located right next to Hovden Fjellbad, is free to use, and skate hire is available if you haven't packed your own.

Lace up your skates and take to the ice – there's room for everyone, whatever your level. If there's a budding ice hockey player in the family, there's usually the chance to have a go at the sport too. And if you're travelling as a couple, the rink can easily turn into a romantic evening out – it's lit up until 11 pm.

Hovden Fjellbad
After days in the snow, a little tropical warmth sounds pretty appealing – and in Hovden, it's just around the corner. Hovden Fjellbad offers water temperatures of 30 degrees, water slides, bubble zones and water play equipment for all ages.

You can even take a dip in the outdoor pool all year round – a truly special experience when the snow falls softly around you as you swim in the heated water. Or why not take a quick plunge into the cold snow before diving back into the warm pool?
For the ultimate treat, the wellness area offers a Finnish sauna, steam bath, hot tub and foot bath – just what tired muscles need before another day on the slopes.

Bonus tip
Hovden also has a very special sledging experience to offer. Every day, just before the ski centre closes, you can fly down one of the slopes at full speed.
