On Fjord Line's ferries between Hirtshals and Bergen/Stavanger, your dog is just as welcome on board as the rest of the family. Here we've gathered everything you need to know to give your four-legged travel companion a safe and comfortable crossing.
Remember to also read our information about bringing your dog to Norway, so you know which documents to bring and which rules – written and unwritten – apply when taking your dog on holiday to Norway.
You can choose between three options for where your dog will primarily be during the crossing: in one of our dog kennels, in the car, or in a pet-friendly cabin.
We offer dog kennels in three sizes, so your dog can travel comfortably regardless of breed:
The kennel is locked during the crossing, and you'll receive a key so you can visit and walk your dog as often as you like. Please note that as the owner you have full responsibility for your dog on board – our crew does not supervise dogs or kennels.
Dog kennels are booked in the booking process. Price: €15 per crossing.

You can also choose to leave your dog in the car during the crossing. You know your dog best – consider whether they're more comfortable in familiar surroundings in the car, or whether a dog kennel would make for a calmer journey.
Please note that the car deck is locked for most of the crossing and you can only visit your dog at set times. Go to reception to be accompanied to the car deck by a crew member.
Times for visits and walks:
*Guests are accompanied by a crew member. **The car deck opens before the ship docks. At other times, please go to reception to be accompanied to the car deck by a crew member.
Price: €15 per crossing.
Are you travelling overnight? We have a number of cabins where dogs are permitted – and this is a popular choice that books up quickly. We recommend booking well in advance of your departure.
Please note that pet-friendly cabins can only be booked by phone – they are not available in the standard booking process.
On the aft deck on deck 10 you'll find our dog walking area, where your dog can stretch their legs and enjoy some fresh sea air. There is also access to water – remember to bring your own bowl. The use of dog bags is required.

Always bring your own food and water bowls for your dog. This applies whether your dog is staying in a kennel or in the car during the crossing.
Dogs are not permitted in the communal areas inside the ship – with the exception of guide and service dogs.
Book a place for your dog directly in the booking process – or contact our customer service team by phone to reserve a pet-friendly cabin.
